REQUIREMENTS
You must have completed the IM rotation or en route completing IM rotation (passing Internal Medicine NBME score is not required)
You must have filled out the Internal Medicine Student Interest Form
You must have a minimum of 3 months left at North Middlesex UH after internal medicine core or internal medicine elective rotation
You must accept and understand the roles, rules, and responsibilities of being an IM Student Mentor
You must have a mature mindset, good communication skills, and be well-organized
More will be discuss once you are at 99.9% consideration to become a member
HOW TO APPLY
There are many ways you can apply to become an Internal Medicine Student Mentor:
Applicant can apply to us directly by filling out the Internal Medicine Student Interest Form and attend the IMSM Recruitment Q&A/Webinar, hosted by Senior IMSM Mentor Zoe Colasacco
Applicant can contact an active IM Student Mentor in person and fill out our Interest Form (see below for the link and QR code)
Applicant is recommended by a current IM student mentor
Please note: During a non-recruitment period, we still encourage applicants to fill out the Internal Medicine Student Interest Form. We will review the newly available interest form and consider offering an interview to the applicant if we believe the applicant has good potential in our program.
After you have submitted the Internal Medicine Student Interest Form:
Dr Wei will contact the applicant with a series of questions via email to get to know the applicant better
Schedule interview with Dr Wei :)

Summary of the interview will be presented to all active IMSM members for a final IMSM membership voting
RESPONSIBILITIES AS A MENTOR
Work 1-on-1 with your assigned consultant(s) to create and facilitate teachings on relevant, high yield topics
Collect student feedback on teachings and adjust or refine content accordingly
Confirm teachings, including location and time (ex: IT Suite 1 @ 2pm), with Phil or Mr. Abdul
Confirm teaching and topic for discussion with assigned consultant
Provide support and motivation to peers – remember, IM can be a daunting rotation, a few words of encouragement can go a long way
Cultivate a positive learning environment for both students and consultants alike
